My name is Janice, and I was born in an ordinary but wonderful family in Tainan. There are five members in my family. My father is an electronic engineer, and he is very humorous. He has taught me a lot of methods about how to get along with others, and it helps me a lot. My father also teaches me that never give up easily and I can learn many things from my experience. My mother is the greatest person in my whole life. When my brother, sister, and I were children, my mom quit her job and took care of us carefully. When we were elementary school students, she helped us on our studies. And she always teaches us to be more patient to everything we encounter even though it is very difficult. My younger brother and sister are harmonious with me. When they have any questions, they always turn to me for help and I will share my experience to them. Having these nice and perfect families makes me feel very happy and pleasant.

I am studying at Department of Applied Foreign Language in National Tainan Commercial Vocational Senior High School. I am very happy to study in such good class because my classmates are friendly and live with harmony. By learning together we always share our experience to each other. When we have any question on studies, we will try to help each other to solve it. Therefore, they become the motive which encourages me to keep learning with enthusiasm.

At school, I have served many different kinds of cadres. When I was the freshman, I was voted to be discipline. By acting as a discipline, I have learned a lot about how to communicate with my classmates by the most efficient way but not to hurt our affections. For example, when they are so noisy that I can’t stop them, I wouldn’t shout at them but tell them that it’s my fault which made them have such noisy environment to study. Surprisingly, they no longer harass me again. Because of this successful experience, I know that there are many ways to solve problems, so do not give up easily.

In addition to academic studies, I also attended some contests. One of the contests which impressed a lot is English storytelling contest. I attended this contest with two of my classmates. During the contest, we encountered many difficulties but we always kept positive attitude and solved the problems together. At that time, we had to change clothes on the stage within very short time, so we tried many ways to make the performance fluently together. Finally, we did it and won the first prize.

Being English major, I have to study English every day. Apart from studying textbook, I also study English magazines and when I have free time, I like to listen to English songs, read English newspapers, watch movies in English and so on. By doing so, I have made a great progress on my reading and listening abilities. With my parents’ and teachers’ encouragement, I took the General English Proficiency Test and passed the intermediate level. I was so happy that I realized why everyone said that effort leads to success. I think I will keep making effort to make myself learn more things about English and become expert in English.

Every time after I finish a play and hear the claps from the audience, I feel content and moved, so I like to perform. Besides, I also consider myself as a good learner and I have many advantages. When it comes to my attitude to life, I am considered an optimistic person because I always look on the bright side when I encounter some difficulties. My name is Fang. I am now 17 years old. I have an English name called Matthew. I am studying in a private high school. There are five people in my family officer and my mother is a housewife. Both of my younger brother and sister are studying in junior high school. You might think that my family is a traditional and stern one because of my father. However, it’s the opposite. My father is an open-minded person full of sense of humor. I must say I am lucky to have such a happy family.

I have been interested in computer since I was an elementary school student. That was the time Father had this big computer on his desk. Every time I was father’s absorbed face while using the computer, I developed this kind of admiration to it. I said to myself “I want to be like that one day.”

I liked to play around with my dad’s computer. One day I accidentally deleted one of my dad’s important files, I was very scared that my father would be furious with me. I am Lin. Sophia is my English name. I am 18 years old, studying in a public girls’ high school. I come from a very happy middle class family. My father works in a bank and my mother works in a bookstore. I am not the so-called spoiled child. My parents make very sure of that by training me to be independent.

Throughout my academic career I have not only gotten good grades but also been very active on sport field and have involved in various societies. I play volleyball and enjoy the team spirit we have. I have joined the drama club and participated in many English speech contests. I really enjoy participating in school activities. I not only made many friends, but also gained many different valuable experiences.

I have been the class English tutor for almost three years. I like to discuss and share the experience of learning English with people a lot. We often read “China Post” and ”Time Magazine” and discuss the content, the word usage and practice speaking English by discussing the articles we have read. At the beginning we found it was quiet hard because we could rarely understand the content but we encouraged each other not to give up. My fondness for English is developed from my childhood. It’s lonely to be the only child. I had no one to play with when I was a kid. My mom knew this so she took me with her all the time. Hence bookstores became my playground and books have been my playmates since I was young. My mom would show me those fancy books with cute illustrations on it. Firstly I was drawn by the pictures and then I was curious about these strange symbols called words. That was my first contact with English. As I was interested what those symbol meant, my parents taught me a bit. As they felt that I was eager to learn, they found me an English tutor. Thanks to my parents got the advantage of learning English by starting it at really early age.

My interest in English brought me to the world of English literature. I have been enchanted by this creative world since then, so I decide to major in English literature. My aim is to explore the world of literature and the world of great writers, to open my eyes and cultivate my mind through this great world of literature.

Besides English literature, I also have a wide range of hobbies. I love reading, Writing, music and movies. I have my active side as well, I enjoy swimming, hiking, raveling and going to the nature a lot. I believe we must have balance in our lives, As to my personality. I am creative, optimistic, determined, willing to help others and down to earth.

Using nuclear power to solve the energy crisis is a popular way in many countries. Although many people think that it is a good idea, I strongly believe that there are many disadvantages of using nuclear power. First, it might pollute the environment around us, and some creatures might be extinct. We have only one earth, so we have to do our best to protect it. Second, nuclear power is dangerous that it might cause radiation leak if we use it carelessly. Once the radiation leaks, we might face many thorny situations.  Finally, it is harmful to our health because it might result in pathological changes of our bodies. What's worse, it might take people's lives away. According to these reasons above, I don’t agree to use nuclear power to solve the energy crisis.

I like to watch movies, and one of my favorites is Twilight. It is a story about vampire's love. A human girl fell in love with a vampire who had lived in the world for one hundred and nine years but still had a young handsome appearance. It was not allowed to have a love affair between a human and a vampire because they had to prevent human from knowing the existence of vampires. Unfortunately, the human girl was pregnant at this time, and she wanted to give birth to her baby who was a half human and half vampire. However, the baby was too strong for the girl to endure the pain. When the baby was born, the girl almost died, so the vampire bit her and made her become a vampire like him so that they could be together forever. It is the most romantic movie that I have ever seen.

There are a great variety of holidays within a year. Among them, Chinese New Year is my favorite. First, I can have a big dinner with my family and we usually feel happy and laugh a lot when we share something interesting happened around us. Also, we children can get red envelopes with much money inside from our parents and grandparents. I often save the money in the bank to prevent a rainy day. First, he offered only two kinds of music, hip-hop and rock, but the residents in the region were almost elders who didn’t like that kind of music. Third, the shop accepted cash only, but most of the students didn’t own credit cards but cash. These reasons led to the failure of this shop.
